As we lead up to the running of the 2024 Rolex 24 at Daytona on Saturday, Pratt Miller Motorsports has been sharing a bunch of content on their social media sites for the fans. One of these videos showcases the process of building the new Z06 GT3.R race cars from the ground up.

It all starts in Bowling Green, Kentucky at the Corvette Assembly Plant. A stock frame, chassis components, much of the Z06’s 5.5L V8, and even the interior dash are the starting points for the car and then it all comes together at Pratt Miller’s facility where all the race and safety content are added. It takes about 16 weeks from start to finish to complete the new racecars.

Another component of building this racecar is the all the virtual design and simulator time which helped to develop the targets for the race team to achieve. GM’s Assistant Sports Car Program Manager Christie Bagne says “Simulation has been a key enabler to designing this race car. One of the things we were really impressed with when we first went out on track is how well what we were seeing in real-life correlated to what we saw in the virtual world when we were developing this car.”
