Chevrolet pushed out another Corvette production update to Chevrolet dealers this morning regarding upcoming production of the 2023 model year. We learned that the second order cycle for the 2023 model year will begin next Thursday, April 14th. Our friends at the Corvette Action Center provided us with these latest constraints for the upcoming model year.

Normally when we talk constraints, it usually means we are discussing a parts shortage, but some good news today is that some items that were previously constrained appear to be making a comeback!

The Rear Park Assist hasn’t been available since the end of January but will start reappearing on the 2022 Stingrays being built beginning the week of April 11th. For those that had their cars built without rear park assist, you will mostly likely hear from Chevrolet sometime in the 4th quarter about a free retrofit of the park assist module.

Another part that has been unavailable since January is the dealer-installed LPO 5ZZ High Wing Spoiler finished in Carbon Flash Metallic. According to the consensus deck, the High Wing will also be available for the next order cycle.

Now for the bad news, which again, is mostly the same news we’ve been hearing for the last month which affects the base Stingray and Magnetic Ride Control.

Apparently the issue with the base Stingray is due to the mLSD (manual limited-slip differential) which is constrained while the Z51’s eLSD (electronic limited-slip differential) is available. We don’t know if that happened naturally or if Chevy prioritized the eLSD vs the mLSD to fulfill as many possible orders as possible. But we do know that Chevy is prioritizing the FE4 (Z51 with Mag Ride) over the FE2 (Non-Z51 with Mag Ride) “to allow volume to be assigned to FE4 and Z51.” The underlying message we’ve been hearing is that “a majority” of those wanting Z51 with MagRide for next week’s order cycle will be able to get it.

The final constraint listed is the ZZ3 Engine Appearance and Lighting Package which has also been on the constraint list since January after the original vendor closed its carbon fiber business. These will not be available for the start of 2023 Corvette production.

If you need a little pick-me-up news after all that, Chevrolet confirms that the 70th Anniversary Packages will be readily available for the launch of the ’23 model year. These are not limited in numbers and we expect they will be big sellers for the year.

Chevrolet also confirmed the start of 2023 Corvette model year production will now begin on May 16th, a week later than initially planned as the Corvette Assembly Plant will be making up those builds that were missed when the plant was shut down for a parts-related supply issue two weeks ago.

While all that info was targeted for the C8 Stingray, we did see that Chevrolet told dealers that “Ordering for the 2023 Corvette Z06 is currently scheduled for ‘late spring’ and remains tentative at this time.”
