With the start of the new year, you may be making a list of things to accomplish this year, and hopefully, that will include making some upgrades to your Corvette! We’ve got our resolutions made for the year and they are definitely Corvette-centric!
For those of you with a C8 in the garage, our friends at ACS Composite are welcoming 2022 by showcasing their highly regarded 1VM aero components which fill in that sweet spot between the OEM Z51 aero and the factory 5VM aero kit from which they are derived from. These wingless 1VM aero components look like they came straight from the factory, and when integrated with ACS Composite’s C8 Rock Guards, they offer advanced protection against rock strikes and other road debris kicked up by your Corvette’s wide tires.
ACS 1VM C8 Front Splitter
Corvettes were made with aerodynamics in mind and the C8 Corvette, in particular, was meant to wear a front splitter, so why are you going without one on your 2020-2021 Corvette? The ACS 1VM C8 Front Lip Splitter was created as an intermediate splitter between the entry-level 3-piece OEM Z51 Splitter and GM’s 5VM Splitter, so it’s more aggressive than the Z51 spoiler, but a bit more conservative than the 5VM. It’s a one-piece design that eliminates visible seams and also foregoes the winglets on each corner to give it a sleek, wraparound fit.
ACS Composite offers this video with Joseph Taverna showing the 1VM splitter in comparison with the 5VM versions. You’ll also be able to see how easy it is to install:
These intermediate 1VM splitters are finished in Carbon Flash Metallic (CFZ) to match the other Carbon Flash pieces on the car. Installation is identical for both base Corvettes equipped without a front splitter, or those that are equipped with the Z51 splitter. The 1VM utilizes the same mounting holes as the OEM Z51 splitter so it is just a matter of removing the T15 screws already on the front of the car, adding the splitter with just four to five screws in place but not tight so you can properly position it, and then tighten those up and then add the final screws to complete the install.
ACS Composite offers the 1VM C8 Front Splitter for $499 and shipping is free.
1VM Side Rockers for the C8 Corvette
ACS Composite now has the perfect compliment to the 1VM Front Splitter with their new ACS 1VM C8 Rockers which offers the elegant look and protection of side rockers on your C8 Corvette without the pretentious wings found on the 5VM rocker panels.
The 1VM rockers were inspired from Corvette Racing’s C8.R “barge board” which features a straight-back and step-out design that covers the side of the car from the front wheel well to the rear wheel well. The result is a functionally purpose-built rocker extension that doesn’t draw away from the overall package. For those that want a more conservative look on their C8s without the wings, the 1VM Rockers and Front Splitter is the way to go.
Joseph is back in this video showing the differences between their 1VM C8 Rockers and GM’s 5VM Rocker design, and the video also shows how to remove the OEM Z51 rocker extension before installing the 1VM C8 Rocker:
The new ACS Composite 1VM C8 Rockers were created for 2020+ Corvette Coupes and Convertibles and they fit on both base and Z51 models. They are priced at $1,699 for the pair and shipping is free.
C8 Corvette Rock Guards
The C8 Corvette’s beautiful mid-engine design does offer a bit of the traditional “Coke bottle” shape as the Stingray’s rear end is wider to accommodate the larger rear tires as well as offer the ability for the side air intakes to capture as much air as possible. That design also lends itself for the front Michelins to pick up rocks and other road debris and launch it rearward against the side of your car. While costly solutions like paint protection film (PPF) can help minimize the damage to your exterior paint, these new C8 Corvette Rock Guards from ACS Composite offers the ultimate protection to guard your Corvette’s exterior against rocks and other debris.
Utilizing GM’s stock accessory splash guards as a starting point, ACS Composite’s C8 Rock Guards enhances that design for added protection with features that include a wider edge, a bladed shield that helps control rocks and road debris inside the wheel well, and an added downward extension that provides great stopping power front and back.
Manufactured from ACS Composite’s proprietary PC Composite material, your C8 Rock guards are designed to withstand extreme temperatures as well as rock strikes projected by the spinning wheels.
Installation is easy and takes as little as 30 minutes as the Rock Guards use the stock OEM mounting points in the wheel wheels so no drilling or two-sided tape is required. ACS Composite also offers an install video that can be found on the company’s YouTube Channel. The C8 Rock Guards are sold as a set of four (2 front/2 rear) for $499 with Free Shipping included.
