Australia/New Zealand Corvette Buyers Getting Closer to Receiving their Right Hand Drive C8 Corvettes

Enthusiasts in Australia and New Zealand are getting closer by the day to the time when a lucky few will be able to drive the first factory right-hand drive Corvettes.

General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) will be distributing the 2022 Stingrays, and a company official says production is slated to begin later this month on the highly anticipated Corvettes at the assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

“This is a significant milestone for GMSV,” says GMSV Director Joanne Stogiannis, “and while we would have loved to have celebrated with more fanfare, we have had to adjust our plans in light of Covid-19 and lockdown restrictions.”

The pandemic has put a halt right now to what Stogiannis hoped would have been a “special, curated experience,” but she says the COVID-19 outbreak has temporarily halted any such plans.

“We’re just as excited as all Corvette enthusiasts and owners-to-be to see one on the road Down-Under and want to assure our passionate fans that we have activities planned for when restrictions allow to showcase this special vehicle,” Stogiannis added.

“We can’t wait to see more of these amazing factory-built right-hand drive models on our roads in coming months and look forward to engaging with owners and clubs around Australia and New Zealand.”

Despite MSRPs nearing the $200,000 mark for top-of-the-line models, the first batch of 2022 RHD Corvettes has already been sold out.

New Zealand will see the 2LT coupe from $154,990 and the 3LT coupe from $169,990 – all including the Z51 Performance Package and the Front Lift. Hardtop convertible versions are also on the way for $15,000 more. The ultimate Stingray will be the Carbon Edition model, priced at $197,990.

First C8 Corvettes Arrive in New Zealand

Our friend Mike Brink of the Brink of Speed YouTube Channel offers up exclusive photos from a follower named David who works in New Zealand and he was there when the first C8 Corvettes arrived at the port. These are pre-production models marked by the “N50” in the VIN and they are both 3LT Coupes:
