GMSV Makes First Visit to Australia’s Spiritual Home of Motor Racing

General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) will be showing off its full lineup of cars and trucks in Australia at Bathurst, known as the spiritual home of motor racing in “The Land Down Under.”

On display for the first time outside Victoria will be all three right-hand-drive C8 Corvettes in Australia, along with the new Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty LTZ Premium and two other pickups.

“It’s fantastic to finally be able to showcase our entire range to Corvette and Silverado fans,” GMSV ANZ director Joanne Stogiannis said. “We couldn’t think of a better opportunity to take the show on the road for our first-ever trip to Bathurst and this great race.”

Stogiannis said the trip will double as the public debut of the Heavy Duty LTZ Premium Silverado – the biggest Chevrolet on sale in Australia and New Zealand – and also will mark the first time the three RHD C8s – a Torch Red 3LT convertible and two 3LT coupes (in Rapid Blue and Hypersonic Gray) – have been “out and about at a major event together.”

The public will be able to see the vehicles – including a Silverado LTZ Premium and LT Trail Boss – during a special viewing arranged at the National Motor Racing Museum in Bathurst during the week of racing.

The most iconic motorsport event in Australia, the Repco Bathurst 1000, will run over six days at Mount Panorama as the final event of this year’s Repco Supercars Championship. In a historic first, Bathurst Regional Council, Repco, Supercars, and ARG have joined forces to combine Australasia’s leading categories for the biggest motorsport event ever staged in Australia. The motorsport extravaganza will feature six days of on-track entertainment and racing from Tuesday, Nov. 30 until the Great Race on Sunday, Dec. 5.

During the event, one of the new Chevy trucks will be demonstrating the “invisible trailer” option that makes the item being towed disappear from view through the use of two strategically mounted cameras.

“We’ve been waiting for 12 months to introduce our new models to GMSV fans,” Stogiannis said, “and Bathurst is the perfect opportunity to do so.”
